Patty Prewitt Freed!
Governor Parson on December 20, 2024, commuted Patty’s sentence of Life Without Parole, thanks to the tireless work of Brian Reichart, who took on Patty’s case through a Georgetown Law Clinic in 2009 with help and advice from Prof. O’Brien. The IAS team paused its investigation into Patty’s innocence while Governor Parson considered Patty’s petition; he was not interested in innocence cases. It says everything about Patty that he commuted her sentence solely because she is a remarkable human being.
