IAS is a nonprofit legal corporation formed to increase access to justice for the unjustly imprisoned. We provide expert legal advice and investigative assistance to lawyers and represent clients who have been unjustly imprisoned and sentenced.
Our Mission
The mission of IAS is to investigate and correct wrongful convictions and excessive sentences, and to educate, support and train students, lawyers, and legal professionals who are engaged in postconviction work on behalf of prisoners.
Our Methods
The founders of IAS have significant skill and experience in postconviction investigation and litigation. By educating and training lawyers and law students, and supporting quality legal advocacy for their clients, IAS will increase the pool of skilled professionals capable of taking on these important cases. Working collaboratively also leverages the expertise of IAS. Contributions support these efforts, and help cover the cost of representation, including investigator fees, travel expenses, transcripts, and services of forensic experts. prisoners in litigation, parole applications, executive clemency proceedings seeking early release.
